Newquay Beer Festival is set to go ahead over three-days at Hendra Holiday Park from Fri 24 to Sun 26 September and Towan Blystra Lions, who organise the event, have put procedures in place will make the event a safe and virus-free environment.

Festival co-ordinator, Andy Hannan said: “The first thing to appreciate is that this is not a music festival with thousands attending. The Beer Festival has always been an event which attracts several hundred, predominantly mature adults, on each day. It is an outdoor and open marquee event with plenty of space, some seating and ample room to stand and circulate. In addition to enhanced hygiene precautions which we have put in place for our staff and customers, we’re ensuring that everyone knows they also have a personal responsibility to keep themselves and others safe.

“We are making it clear that the only people attending should be those who are satisfied they have received two COVID vaccinations or, if they have not been vaccinated, have taken negative PCR or personal lateral flow tests immediately prior to attendance. We will have lateral flow test packs available onsite if anyone wants to use them. Obviously anyone with any COVID symptoms, whether vaccinated or not, should not attend but we have taken our lead very much from the Prime Minister’s regular insistence that taking personal responsibility, along with sensible precautionary measures, will be the most influential way of slowing transmission of COVID,” Andy said.
