Skinners Brewery

Betty StogsThe temperature of real ale is an important factor in keeping it in its best condition and enhancing the pleasure of consuming it.

Therefore, we are delighted that Skinner’s Brewery have once again helped us ‘keep our cool’ by providing cooling probes for each individual barrel which ensures you should enjoy, not just their beers, but all the real ales on offer, at the best possible temperature.

Of course, the quality of the ale itself matters and, in having Betty Stogs, one of Cornwall’s most popular and iconic ales on offer, together with Skinner’s Brewery’s more recent offering, River Cottage (see below), we are sure you will agree that we’ve picked two fine examples from their range. Skinner’s also produce a selection of cask, seasonal and bottled ales including Heligan Honey, Lushingtons, Splendid tackle, their own Cornish lager – Skindog and the cider – Press Gang.

STOP PRESS: We couldn’t resist this!

It was late in the day, and after our programme had gone to print, but we thought this new Skinner’s brew deserved a special outing at Newquay Beer Festival.

River Cottage EPA (4.0% ABV) has been brewed in collaboration with celebrity chef, television personality, jour- nalist, food writer and “real food” campaigner Hugh Fearneley- Whittingstall of River Cottage fame.

Hugh says: “Skinner’s Brewery has created a delicious English Pale Ale made with the finest in- gredients from the West Country.

“By sourcing the best English hops – including the exceptional Cascade, produced for the first time by UK growers – and combining them with the finest Cornish malted barley, they have made a beer that’s high in complex aromatics with floral, cedar and citrus notes, and a long, bitter- sweet finish.

“I hope you’ll love it as much as we do.”
